Mahajan and Teton
Once upon a time a moneylender and a Teton (wise) coming from opposite directions on a narrow mountain pass suddenly met at one place; But the road is so narrow that not many people can travel on it at a time. The passers-by are both proud young men. Both of them stood stunned, wondering who would step out of the way. The financier thought, I am the richest man in the country, I have wealth as well as search, establishment, why should I move aside for this little man?
Teton thought, how much prestige I have in the royal court for intelligence, why should I move away. Teton, after a while, thought it unwise to quarrel in the street with a fool, and wordlessly stood a little to one side.
Mahajan advanced a little and thought that the man was rude. Left without a proper greeting. So he addressed him and said, "Oh, I am a vessel of your honor, have you forgotten this?" Why are you leaving without greeting?”
Teton said, “What if wealth? Touching the shadow of a mindless person like you is a sin, so I moved away."
After many arguments, both of them appeared before the nearest Gramya Panchayat to determine their superiority. The panchayats reasoned that if the moneylender is called the best, there is a possibility of harm from Teton during the litigation. And if Teton is best, it is difficult to borrow money in times of scarcity. Finally they said, "Gentlemen! The matter is very complicated. We are small village people, our intelligence is also small. Ask the king for justice. Then they approached the king to settle the dispute. The king saw that neither intelligence nor wealth is negligible. Proclaiming the superiority of intellect, all the rich men of the kingdom would be displeased; And if I declare the superiority of wealth, all the ministers, acolytes and intellectuals of the state will oppose me. So the king himself did not interfere in this trial and assigned the burden of justice to the minister.
Minister Ishath laughed and said – “The princess of Nilachal is born
He does not see the face of men. The person among you is this princess
He will be considered the best I can bring in marriage.” Teton said, "If I go to the fire, I will be successful, no doubt, but later the moneylender will proudly say - if I go ahead, I could also bring the princess in marriage, so let that go ahead."
The moneylender loaded the boat with wealth and set sail. but
impulsively; Forgot to bring instructions. Then when he arrived at the edge of Nilachal, the guards forbade him to enter the boat without a certificate. Then Mahajan introduced himself to the guards and said, “I have come to this kingdom to marry your princess. If you can bring him
I will reward you specially. I give thousands of coins at once, accept
do.”
They abandoned their work under various pretenses and went home. In this way he used up the wealth in various fruitless attempts: the moneylender came to the country and said, "This work is not done by me, let Teton try once more." Teton traveled blue-collar with a token and a small sum of money: by various tricks he took shelter in the house of the princess Malini. After gradually developing a kinship with him, one day he said in conversation, “Maat! I was very surprised to hear that a princess does not see a man's face till birth and is voluntarily celibate in her youth. Not being able to break through this mystery, the mind is very disturbed.
Malini said, 'Bapu, this matter is very secret of the princess. When someone mentions this, he starts cutting. So I'm afraid to ask "Mother," said Teton, "there's nothing to be afraid of if you know how to speak. I'll tell you the way. Compose a good poem, and say it in context, dear. I'm old, and I don't know when I'll die, and it's a pain in my heart that you're still here." I did not see Samsari. You want to leave, go, but you die without knowing the reason for the huge gamble you have made.
Can't get it." The next day Malini acted as advised. Seeing Malini's sincere sympathy, the princess was a little upset.
The princess said - "Mother! This is a very confidential matter. Be careful! Make sure no one else hears!”
Malini said, “Mother! No idea, this matter will never come to light." Then the princess said, "Look mother! In my previous birth I was born as a deer. Once there was no rain and the sun made food scarce. Then I was about to give birth. Difficulty wandering at will in search of food I did Fortunately, one day I saw beautiful young grass near a spring on the hillside. Seeing this grass, my husband couldn't contain his greed. I forbade him to go there because there was a fire burning on the mountain. But he did not pay attention to it. In his interest, I was also inclined to eat grass. Gradually, fire appeared in the surrounding forest. Again I said to my husband, "Look, I am pregnant, it is difficult to walk." If the fire is stronger, I will not be able to cross the fire with your right aim. Come, let's go to have time.”
My husband mocked and said, – “Afraid of this little fire! Even the baby deer is not afraid of this fire. Let's have some more food.”
Gradually the Agnirashi surrounded us completely. Men are busy with their lives. He never remembered me. With a single leap he was free from danger. I failed in my escape and lost my life in the fire with great agony. At the time of my death, I vowed that in the next life I would see the face of a selfish man - no.
After learning everything from Teton Malini, he went to his own country and with the help of the minister collected a letter to give to the king of Nilachal and set off again there. The letter read, “The bearer is of noble birth. He does not see a woman's face since childhood. He wishes to see Nilachal for a week. It would be a matter of great happiness if the women of the state were forbidden to leave their homes at this time."
After arriving there on the order of the king and traveling for the first day, the minister of that kingdom said to the king, “Maharaj! A young man does not even look at a woman's face, I have never heard such a strange thing. There seems to be some mystery in it.”
The king was also curious and the queen and the princess were also curious to know the reason for this wonderful gift. They remained behind the curtain in the pavilion. Teton was invited and asked in conversation the reason for his marriage. On hearing this, Teton became impatient with anger and held Aussie. But immediately, as if holding back his anger with great difficulty, he said – “If someone else had asked, I would have cut it off right away. But I am your guest today. Although the matter is confidential, I am telling you. But see to it that it is not revealed in any way. Teton began to say, “Maharaj! I used to be a deer. Once I was unable to walk due to a thorn in my leg. Then one day I was slowly walking with my wife, when I saw a very beautiful young grass somewhere on the side of the mountain. At that time, the fire was burning all around, seeing the fire surrounded us, I said to my wife, "I have thorns on my feet, I am unable to walk." If the fire is strong in my favor It will be difficult to overcome the fire.” But the king! Women are naturally a bit gluttonous, never satisfied with short meals.
"I am not afraid even as a woman, and you should be afraid as a man!" - At this rebuke of my wife, I was inclined to eat grass. The fire surrounded the four sides. Then my wife Harin jumped over the fire; but I was in great pain in the fire. I lost my life. At the time of my death, I vowed, "I will not see a woman's face again in the next life."
The princess could no longer contain her anger at this point. He said with emotion - "Shameless! Why are you lying? Have you so soon forgotten about running away with a small life? I lost my life in the fire during pregnancy for you.”
Teton interrupted and said, – “Never, it was you who threw me into the fire and escaped with a paltry life.”
In this way, the debate continued from both sides of the screen. Minister then
He said, “Maharaj! The two must have been husband and wife in previous births, here
Give them marriage immediately. ” Thus was the marriage of the princess with Teton. After returning home, Teton began to live happily ever after. One day the king, the minister and Teton were seen traveling together on the road
The moneylender first to the king, then to the minister, and finally to Teton
Greeted.
So the minister said, - "Mahajan! By now your question is completely settled, if you accept the superiority of intelligence over wealth itself.
